IPL: I changed my thought process, says Dhawan

CHENNAI: At his best, Shikhar Dhawan often strikes you as a batsman who doesn't like to complicate matters. It is an oft-repeated cliche with most players, but the left-hander sticks to the 'see ball, hit ball' philosophy as much as possible.

In the last three matches in particular, the approach paid rich dividends with Dhawan hitting three consecutive half-centuries. He had only registered two fifty-plus scores in the first nine games but has now found his consistency at the top of the order.

Asked about his approach, Dhawan suggested that an uncluttered mind was behind his recent run of form.

"I just changed my thought process. That is it. It is just in the mind. I knew I had to play faster. I knew what shots I have to bring in and what risks I have to take," he said.
With Dhawan and his India teammates heading to the World Cup, his positive frame of mind bodes well. He will, of course, have to re-adjust to the 50-over format, but that is nothing new for him.
"Rohit, Virat and I have been doing it consistently for 5-6 years now. So nothing's going to change. We've scored so many centuries, broken so many records and know how to do it.
"We are not going to overthink even though it is the World Cup," he said.
