Indian-origin man dies after self-immolation in front of White House; cause unknown

Washington: A 33 year old male of Indian origin has died after setting himself on fire in front of the White House in a rare and inexplicable case of self-immolation in the United States.
Arnav Gupta, 33, of Bethesda, Maryland, a suburb close to the capital was said to be on a drug-induced hallucination in the park in front of the White House on a busy Wednesday morning when he ignited himself shortly after noon local time.
Park police doused him with a fire extinguisher and he was taken to a hospital, but he died from his injuries.
Gupta had been reported missing by his family since 9 a.m Wednesday morning and there was concern over what police called his "physical and emotional welfare.”
"Montgomery County detectives are looking for 33-year-old Arnav Gupta who was last seen when he left his home around 9:20 a.m. Wednesday. five-foot-nine and weighs 200 pounds." local police had notified on Twitter in a message tagged "It takes one second to share."
A local media report citing unnamed police sources said Gupta was hallucinating on K2 - a form of synthetic marijuana - and that he had also taken Phencyclidine, also known as PCP or Angel Dust, that causes hallucinations.
Neighbors in Bethesda, an upscale suburb, described Gupta as a "nice" and "smart" kid, but said they had not seen much of him in recent months. He did not appear to have any extreme political views.
