Vande Bharat to run between Delhi and Katra from October 5
NEW DELHI: Starting October 5, you can plan your visit to Vaishno Devi taking the indigenous, semi-high speed Vande Bharat Express. The railways has started booking tickets and expects heavy rush during the festive season. The train will be flagged off by Amit Shah on October 3.
This is the second Vande Bharat Express that railways will run. Recently, railway board chairman V K Yadav had said improvements had been made in train which will run between Delhi and Katra, and these include the quality of seats and more space for catering. The train will reduce the one-way travel time to eight hours from the current 12.
In a tweet, the railway ministry said, “Ticket booking for 22439/22440 New Delhi to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Vande Bharat Express is open now. Tickets can be booked for any journey commencing from October 5 onwards. Train will stop at Ambala Cantt, Ludhiana and Jammu Tawi.”
The railways has kept catering optional for passengers. This means, at the time of booking, you can choose not to opt for food and catering charges will not be part of the fare. The minimum fare for travelling between New Delhi and Katra will be Rs 1,266 for AC chair car and Rs 2,596 for executive chair car. The train will run on all days of the week except Tuesday.
