India, Pakistan boycott each other at Saarc FM meet

NEW DELHI: India and Pakistan boycotted each other's address to Saarc foreign minister meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. Pakistan's foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi did not attend his counterpart S Jaishankar's address, coming to the meeting only after Jaishankar left.
Jaishankar did not return for Qureshi's speech either. The episode marked the continuation of a cold war that began last year, when the external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj had walked out before the Pakistani foreign minister's address.
It has now been four years since a formal SAARC conference, thanks to Pakistan's face off with India. India has simply gotten around the Pakistan hurdle by engaging with other countries in the region.
