CBI quizzes Mukul in Narada case, calls him again today
KOLKATA: The CBI on Saturday questioned BJP leader Mukul Roy for close to three hours in connection with the Narada sting operation case. He was interrogated together with suspended IPS officer SHM Mirza, who was arrested on Thursday, CBI sources said.
Roy has been asked to appear before the agency again on Sunday for questioning. In the Narada tapes, Roy, then a top TMC functionary, was seen talking to Mathew Samuel, the Narada News boss who had posed as a Chennai-based businessman to carry out the operation. The tapes also showed Mirza telling Samuel about his connection with Roy and mentioning a payment of Rs 1.7 crore. CBI officers are trying to ascertain the facts by questioning Roy and Mirza together.
While leaving the CBI’s office, Roy said there was a political conspiracy against him.
