Taking exception to the decision, AICC spokesman Abhishek Singhvi joked that RJD chief Lalu Prasad sh-ould say “tussi great ho” and his fodder scam convictions would be waived off too.
With UP government clamping down on a Congress protest march against “state protection” to former BJP MP Chinmayanand who is accused in a case of sexual assault and the Centre deciding to commute death sentence to late Punjab CM Beant Singh’s assassin, Singhvi said there was a common thread running through all these measures taken by the ruling BJP.
“The actions in these cases send a clear message that you are immunised from the law of the land if you chant ‘tussi great ho’ (you are great) day in and day out, and you are subjected to harassment and vendetta if you do not chant this. It exhibits extreme irresponsibility about the law,” he said.
“I wonder how many people in the country are fortunate enough to get this generosity of a generous EC and of a super generous government of India. I would suggest all such people who want this generosity should start chanting a different mantra,” he said.
