Mom, girl jump off train to nab thief, get run over

AGRA: In a tragic turn of events, a woman from West Bengal and her daughter were run over by a train near Vrindavan Road railway station on Saturday morning when they jumped off another train to catch a person who had stolen their bag.
Meena Supen, 47, along with her son Akash Supen, 24, and daughter Manisha Supen, 21, was travelling to Kota in Hazrat Nizamuddin-Thiruvananthapuram Central Superfast Express when the incident took place at 3.40 am on Saturday. The train, which runs weekly, was not guarded by RPF and GRP squad at the time of the incident.
Circle officer (CO) of Agra GRP Anurag Darshan said, “The victims were probably run over by UP Sampark Kranti Express which was coming from the opposite side. Their bodies were found in the middle of two tracks. Akash, who was asleep when the accident took place, was later informed by fellow passengers. The handbag which the thief stole contained Rs 4,000 cash, two mobile phones, ATM card and cosmetic items along with ID cards.”
