Cops escort family of UP law student to Delhi

BAREILLY: Following the Supreme Court directions, a Delhi Police team arrived here on Saturday to take the parents of the law student who was allegedly sexually harassed by a BJP leader to meet her in the national capital. A team of six armed personnel, including a woman constable, led by an inspector arrived in Shahjahanpur.
"The Delhi Police team gave us a copy of the SC order before taking us with them to Delhi to meet our daughter," the father of the law student told TOI. Besides the parents, two younger siblings of the woman are also on their way to Delhi .
The law student's father told TOI, "We are yet to speak with our daughter after her last call on Friday. However; we are now assured that she is safe at the moment. Upon reaching Delhi, we will speak with her about the evidence she mentioned she had against former Union minister Swami Chinmayanand. So far, it is evident that all the senior cops and administrative officials in UP were influenced by the former minister and we still feel unsafe in the state."
Meanwhile, Chinmayanand's legal advisor Om Singh said, "My client is still on maun vrat (vow of silence). However, he will appear before the police whenever required."
