Pakistan can't fight full-fledged war with India, says Rajnath Singh

NEW DELHI: Pakistan can neither fight a full-fledged nor a limited war with India and is waging a proxy war, defence minister Rajnath Singh said in Lok Sabha while speaking on the 20th anniversary of the Kargil conflict as Parliament paid tributes to Indian soldiers on Friday.
The Kargil war was fought in the mountainous terrain along the Line of Control during May-July 1999. On July 26, 1999, dubbed 'Kargil Vijay Diwas', Indian forces had declared victory in the Kargil conflict.
Singh said the bravery and sacrifice of soldiers could not be forgotten. "Our neighbouring country (Pakistan cannot fight a fullfledged war or a limited war with India. It is fighting a proxy war," he said. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and home minister Amit Shah were present in the House.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla too paid tributes to soldiers who fought in the Kargil conflict.
Congress leader in the House Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury suggested that there should be a discussion on the Kargil war as there was no dearth of time with the Parliament session extended.
