VVIP chopper scam: ED witness ‘back from dead’

NEW DELHI: In a twist in the AgustaWestland VVIP chopper scam case, the Enforcement Directorate said one of its key witnesses, K K Khosla, who was feared dead, had resurfaced and could testify for the agency soon. Appearing before special CBI judge Arvind Kumar, special prosecutors D P Singh and NK Matta said the agency may have Khosla soon.
“A little birdie tells us we might have Khosla today or tomorrow somewhere. Khosla being Ratul Puri’s chartered accountant, maintained ‘kachchi’ entries. These entries are also corroborated by different people. The entries pertain to years 2009-2010,” a prosecutor said. According to the ED, these entries corresponded to the period of movement of money involving another accused Rajiv Saxena.
“We will continue to make enquiries with regard to Khosla. Hope he is brought back. We sincerely hope that he is somewhere and will assist us,” another prosecutor said. The court, meanwhile, extended Puri’s interim protection from arrest till Thursday after arguments on the application remained inconclusive. Puri, the nephew of Madhya Pradesh CM Kamal Nath, has been questioned by the ED in the AgustaWestland scam. The ED said Puri was being non-cooperative.
Puri, through senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi and advocate Vijay Aggarwal, had earlier argued that the sole basis of him being put under the ED scanner was the statement of accused-turned-approver Rajiv Saxena.
