'Would go to village school 15km away on a bicycle’
Currently stationed at the Brazil observatory facility in Alcantara, the 33-year-old scientist is an operation manager of Chandrayaan-2 mission and helps guide the craft to Moon. He is responsible for providing the craft's health-related data, navigation data and tele-command information to the team in India. Speaking to TOI, Dharvendra, who drew inspiration from Kalam to join Isro in 2011, said, "It's an honour to be part of the mission. We're working round the clock."
Dharvendra did his schooling from a private school in Tundla, BTech from an Agra college and MTech from NIT Jalandhar. His sister Deepika has completed an MTech and his brother Upendra is preparing for the civils.
"My brother's school was 15km from the village. He would travel to school by tanga or would be dropped by our father on a bicycle," Upendra said. Shambu Dayal Yadav, their father, said, "I could study only till high school. But I ensured all my kids go for higher studies and excel in their fields."
