NEW DELHI: A day after

Rahul Gandhi resigned

from the post of Congress president, Priyanka Gandhi[1] Vadra took to Twitter on Thursday to show respect for her brother's decision.
"Few have the courage that you do. Deepest respect for your decision," Priyanka Gandhi said in her tweet on Thursday.

Rahul in his "farewell letter" that he tweeted on Wednesday had said that the party needs a “radical transformation” to fight BJP.
While owning responsibility for Congress' mauling in Lok Sabha[3] elections 2019, Rahul Gandhi[4] lamented that he at times fought a lone and personal battle against BJP-RSS and Prime Minister Narendra Modi[5], repeating an insinuation he made at the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting. Rahul had announced his plans to resign in a CWC meeting on May 25.
Now, All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary in charge of organisation will convene a CWC meeting to accept Rahul’s resignation and

, as laid down by the AICC constitution.
On Wednesday, Rahul had revealed he rebuffed in-house suggestions to nominate a successor, adding he trusts the party seniors to take the best decision about who can “lead us with courage, love and fidelity”.
