PM Modi hosts dinner for MPs; TMC, Left stay away

NEW DELHI: PM Narendra Modi felicitated former Speaker Sumitra Mahajan at a gala dinner he hosted as an outreach to members of Parliament on Thursday that also saw Modi mix with MPs from all parties and share light hearted moments in an informal interaction.
The dinner, also attended by Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu, along with political leaders saw the PM interact with MPs. In a first of its kind gesture from PM Modi, members from Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha across party lines attended the gathering at the Ashok Hotel.
Trinamool Congress, CPM, CPI and RJD did not attend the meet but Congress and other opposition parties were part of it. However, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi stayed away.
Modi circulated among the MPs and exchanged pleasantries with them, staying on at the function for over a little over an hour and a half.
