Army to probe charge against Colonel, jawans
PUNE: The Army's Southern Command said on Tuesday that it will investigate the allegations made in an FIR filed with the Pune rural police that a serving colonel had brought 30 to 40 armed jawans to threaten the residents of Gulani village in Khed tehsil, on June 22.
The Khed police had registered an offence of "unlawful assembly of people armed with deadly weapons" against the colonel and jawans after a woman complainant accused them of entering a farmland, damaging crops and threatening people at the village.
The police had said the incident appeared to be the fallout of an ongoing land dispute .
