More than 24 hours after her suicide, police were yet to take any action. Investigation officer ASI B Mathur told TOI on Monday that they hadn't even checked out the social media group where the photos were allegedly posted.
The girl had secured 71% marks in Class X and her parents had high expectations of her, police said. Her family alleges that three youngsters barged into their house 10 days ago and clicked some photographs with her, said ASI Mathur. "They shared those pictures on a local WhatsApp group named 'Panchayat'. She learnt of it on Friday and informed her parents," the ASI said.
"On Sunday evening, her family was sitting in the courtyard when she hanged herself in her room. No suicide note was found," Mathur told TOI, adding that there was tension in the locality after her suicide. The body was sent for autopsy and her last rites were performed on Monday.
"A thorough investigation will be carried out and appropriate action taken if anyone is found guilty," he said.
