Howdy Madi, says Congress, asks how ‘broker’ had PMO access

NEW DELHI: The government-blessed tour of a bunch of European MPs to J&K continued to stir controversy, with Congress on Wednesday asking the Centre to explain how an “international business broker” Madi Sharma, organiser of the trip, had access to the PM.
Accusing the Modi government of “diplomatic blunder”, Congress said the Centre has internationalised the J&K issue by taking the European MPs there.
Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra tweeted, “Farmers and unemployed youth of India don’t have the facility of meeting the PM. But yes, international business brokers like Madi Sharma can proudly write ‘come to India, we will also bear your expenses’.”

“How did these business brokers have access to the PMO,” she wrote. AICC spokesman Randeep Surjewala asked in what capacity was Sharma fixing appointments with Modi.
Party leader Jairam Ramesh poked fun with a “Howdy, Madi?” 3 Congress netas meet MEPs, get party notice: Congress has issued a show-cause notice to three of its leaders — Usman Majid, Channi Singh and Farooq Andrabi — for meeting the EU delegation without prior permission.
