Nov, Dec may be bit warmer in run-up to winter: IMD

PUNE: The average temperature in India may be slightly above normal between November and December this year in the run-up to the winter, the Indian Meteorological Department’s Seasonal Climate Outlook for South Asia as well as the latest South Asian Climate Outlook Forum (SASCOF-15) have indicated.
According to the forecasts, the 2020 winter may thus start on a mild note. Winter in India begins in January and lasts until February, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).
Based on the initial conditions in August, the report showed that there is nearly between 70% to 100% probability that the mean temperature for November and December will be slightly above normal, except in Jammu and Kashmir which has a 50-60% probability of above normal average temperature during these months.
