The World Cup 'adopted' XI

A fair bit of the pre-match chatter, ahead of England's clash with the West Indies on Friday, was surrounding pace sensation Jofra Archer. The Barbados-born, 24-year-old had turned out for West Indies Under-19s (current West Indies World Cup squad members Shimron Hetmyer and Nicholas Pooran were his teammates), before he moved to England and opted to represent their senior side. (He has an English father and has held a British passport since birth.)

And at the Rose Bowl in Southampton, Jofra did what Jofra does best. Bowling quick and hostile, he took out three Windies wickets in three overs towards the end, skittling them out for 212. Now, cricketers turning out for an adopted country instead of playing for their birthplaces is known. What's unknown is that at the 2019 World Cup, there's an entire 'adopted' XI on show.
