BJP now looks to woo more netas from TDP

AMARAVATI: BJP, which admitted four Rajya Sabha members from TDP into its ranks, is making all-out attempts to woo more leaders from TDP. BJP had polled less than 1% of the vote in the recently held assembly and general elections.
Sources said that T G Venkatesh, the new Rajya Sabha member from Kurnool, has started negotiations with veteran leader Kotla Suryaprakash Reddy and is planning to rope in several other TDP leaders from the district into BJP.
Suryaprakash Reddy, son of former CM Kotla Vijayabhaskara Reddy, joined TDP just before the elections. A long-time Congressman, Suryaprakash and his wife, had contested on TDP tickets, lost.
Anantapur TDP strongman and former MP J C Diwakar Reddy said he had an invitation from BJP but was not going to leave the party. Sources said senior BJP members were in touch with Reddy’s family and were trying to persuade them to join the saffron party.
