DMK may get EC notice for errors in poll expense report
While CPM, to which DMK had donated Rs 10 crore, is mentioned as Marxist Communist Party in the expenditure statement filed by DMK in August, CPI, recipient of Rs 15 crore from the southern party, has been named as Indian Communist Part (sic).
A third ally, Kongunadu Makkal Desia Katchi (KMDK), to which DMK donated Rs 15 crore, was named as ‘Gongu Nadu Democratic Party’. “EC, in view of the said errors, will sent DMK a notice asking it to correct nomenclature of the three recipient parties and also mention the dates on which the RTGS transfers totalling Rs 45 crore were made, as is required as per the standard format for election expenditure statement to be filed by the political parties,” said an EC official.
While CPM has filed its election expenditure statement for the general election 2019, CPI is yet to do so. Even BJP and Congress have not submitted their respective expenditure statements for the recent elections to the LS and few state assemblies. CPM, according to sources, has declared gross receipts of Rs 13 crore from other political parties. Of which, Rs 10 crore came from DMK, while the remaining Rs 3 crore may have been donated by other parties.
