Uncle our leader, but BJP pact to stay: Ajit Pawar

MUMBAI: Nearly 36 hours after the volte-face in which NCP leader Ajit Pawar was sworn in as deputy CM, he resurfaced on Twitter to reply to congratulatory tweets by senior BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah.
Ajit Pawar also tweeted: “I am in the NCP and shall always be in the NCP and @PawarSpeaks Saheb [Sharad Pawar] is our leader. Our BJP-NCP alliance shall provide a stable Government in Maharashtra for the next five years which will work sincerely for the welfare of the State and its people.”

Despite pleas, Ajit stays firm, visits CM’s house
Ajit Pawar also updated his Twitter handle @AjitPawarSpeaks with his latest career perch, deputy chief minister, Maharashtra, indicating that emotional appeals by senior Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leaders and his confidantes to bring him back to the Nationalist Congress Party mainstream have not worked. Nationalist Congress Party sent Jayant Patil as an emissary to Ajit Pawar’s residence in an attempt to persuade him to walk back from his stated position.
Late on Sunday night, Pawar added to the drama by visiting chief minister Devendra Fadnavis’s official residence, Varsha.
Senior BJP functionaries said that even as Ajit Pawar was yet to speak to the media about his move on Saturday, the tweets were an indicator of his mind.
